VPC compettion?

Thread Starter
I have just found this <a href="http://OpenOSX.com/wintel/" target="_blank">Wintel</a> over at OpenOSX. This is a Pentium emulator.
it comes with FreeDos, Linux, OpenBSD installs. It's Windows compatable (although you have to 'get' the installers separatly). But the kicker is they plan to retail this for $30.

So has anyone used this. Is it any good. Will it make VPC look bad, (Conectux (sp?) has been doing PC emulation for ages & the OSX version stinks), these people haven't.

Wow that seems very interesting. I wonder if it's a poor preformer though like "Bluelabel". It's nice to see competition though. I wonder if FWB is going to do anything with "Real PC". It seems like it might be a dead product ... be nice if they stepped up to the plate & gave Connectrix a run for it's money.

Did you notice that once VPC won dominance over Softwindows that that's when they decided that Video Hardware support was not needed & took to much development? Competition is good. We need more of it in this area.

For a free version of the same software try here. <a href="http://freshmeat.net/projects/bochs/" target="_blank">http://freshmeat.net/projects/bochs/</a>

I will look at it more when I get home.

Seems like your right Macbochs is open source (take a look at it's faq here <a href="http://bochs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/topper.pl?name=Bochs+FAQ&url=http://bochs.sourceforge.net/docs-html/faq.html)" target="_blank">http://bochs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/topper.pl?name=Bochs+FAQ&url=http://bochs.sourceforge.net/docs-html/faq.html)</a>

This is rather dissappointing. I only say this because MacBoch has not progressed much at all in years & most likely this person is just repackaging it & not making any real improvements. Just someone looking to make a buck off of others work (although I could be wrong, we'll see ...).

Hmmm, after further investigation OpenOSX (the company who sells WinTel) seems to repackage a lot of software (mostly linux/unix). I'm not sure if they do any enhancement on the products though. Well at least it is a real company, perhaps there is some hope that they'll actually add code to it (and not just repackage it).
