Interesting.

No big deal about the cheesy online games, nor even the ports of jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune . . .

but they said
"Over the coming months, SOE will be working to make all of its games available for the Mac."

Could this mean . . .

Everquest?

more importantly . . .

Star Wars Galaxies?!

My guess is that they'll adopt a 'wait and see' policy like most other gaming companies . . .

If they don't move fast - Blizzard is gonna beat em to the punch of having the first and only MMORPG out for Mac . . .

Question:

What games does SONY make?
Mac Pro 2.66, 5GB RAM, 250+120 HD, 23" Cinema Display
MacBook 1.83GHz, 2GB RAM

Surely you're joking.

It's unbelievable that Sony will come out with all of it's games for the Mac. Everquest has been a long sought after title, and Star Wars Galaxies is going to be a big game.

I wonder if Sony is still a little sore at Verant. If I remember correctly, Sony wanted Verant to make Everquest for PS2. After Sony bought them out (basically), Verant said that they didn't have the ability to make the PS2 and PC versions interact with each other. Plus, Sony still doesn't have it's online structure in place for the PS2.

It's pretty clear in context from that article that it's talking only about Sony Online Entertainment's web-based games.

Starting on January 7, 2002, Mac users can begin enjoying games on The Station, including Jeopardy! Online, Wheel of Fortune Online, Yuetan, Empyrean, Bingo, 99s, Slots and Checkers. Over the coming months, SOE will be working to make all of its games available for the Mac.

Sorry, but I don't think this has anything to do with EverQuest or other such games.

If it doesn't include Everquest, why does it appear on Verant's website?

This includes Everquest, and it appears to me that the only game that would take months to port is EQ. The list they have up now is for games that should work. This is a big deal for Apple games.

I honestly don't hold out much hope for EQ

and I'm not really asking for that . . .

But if Blizzard can do it, why can't Sony/Verant?

LucasArts *has* supported Mac in the past despite their violent drop-off of support - they've began having their games ported.
(not that lucas Arts has really put out any seriously good games for a while, though)

I stand corrected about ShadowBane . . .
I'v eplayed Lineage once - a long time ago.
Wasn' t impressed.
Not the type of persistant world I'm talkin about

more later
