DVD Regions on the Mac

I use a G4 400, with DVD player running on 0S 9+X. I'm thinking of purchasing some DVDs from E-bay. Does anyone have any idea which 'Dvd Regions' these programes can run?

One would imagine, if they are bought in North America, they will work in North America.

I'm sure there are lots of utilities that will reset your DVD region for you, though.
