Hey Those Republicans lowered your taxes!

Thread Starter
I just had to pull your leg with the title of this thread.

One thing I have been concerned with over the past several years are the bills passed in congress which are unfunded mandates passed to the states who in turn have to go to extreme measures to raise tax revenues. At the federal level the "republican" monopoly we have can pretend they are all about tax cuts. But let's be real.... this is BS.

The buck is being spent and the tax bill is being passed to local governments to collect on.

Americans ARE PAYING

Christian Science Monitor has a piece which makes it very clear the coming battle concerning inflation in property valuations and the tax burden attatched via property tax collections.

High Property Taxes Story CSM

A great read.

The government prints the money; we're just borrowing it.

I think people would be pissed if corporations bought the road infrastructure and charged us by the minute like cell phone companies. Of course if you have an SUV or some other big car, you pay more. You And if they wanted to put a road through another corporation's used-to-be-owned-by-the-gubment park you like to take your kids or dog to to play, you have no say; this is a busness deal that has nothing to do with you.

It appears the level of reading comprehension has really dropped off in this place.

The article does not attribute the rising property taxes to any goverment undertaking by any party. It isn't even about whether Republicans or Democrats would raise or lower taxes.

Quote:
Welcome to the flip side of the real estate boom. Years of rising home values have boosted property taxes steadily. Now, homeowners across the United States are fighting back.

This is a product of the real estate bubble which is a product of the liquidity bubble created by Greenspan, the federal reserve chairman.

Is the fed chairman a member of a party? The office itself is independent and you are appointed to it. Greenspan was nominated to office by Reagan and renominated by Clinton.

Greenspan oversaw the market crash of 1987, engineered the recession of 91 and was hated by the first Bush for not loosening up the rate tap soon enough to insure his reelection. Greenspan has overseen two speculative bubbles in both stocks and housing. To me that means he lost some nerve to stay independent and so his political bending has given each president a bubble as a present.

Besides we are getting ready for our 14th rate hike. I assure you that those property values, and the property taxes they demand won't be a concern for much longer. Some people will be crying after the correction and there isn't going to be a damn thing a Republican or Democrat can do about it.
