 Wouldn't you be happier that it's burning at a faster speed? I remember when I used to have a USB burner the max it would burn at was 2x even though it should've been 4x. I would've loved it to burn at 4x.

I know people who burn at 2x if they're making a copy of their original software CDs to file away, or are archiving something ultra-important, to make sure they get a perfect burn. I'll sometimes drop the speed down if I want to insure a good burn too and time is not a consideration - not down to 2x mind you, but maybe 4 or 6.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you though burningwheel - my only speed related burning problem was with the 24x burner in my last tower - I couldn't get it to burn above 12x. So I sold it.

I don't know about everyone else, but for any data CDs I always allow complete data verification and checksumming. That way, I know that the burn was successful and the integrity of my data is complete.

I know a few people who just burn and are done. Sure its faster (and for audio CDs this isn't a big deal) but it's gonna suck in two years when you can't read that backup of your tax return... Doh!
