Resolution on a LCD Moniter.

When ever I start up certain games. Say Raven Shield or Oni. I can't see the game because my moniter won't draw the image and I get an out of range issue. Anyone know how to change the resolution of a game when you are not in the game. I would change it from inside the game. But it doesn't draw to the moniter. Any other ideas?

Games have config files that store the resolution settings. They are in different places for every game. Games based on common engines e.g the quake engine tend to have them in common places though. Google to see where those files are for each game.
