I would what I am doing would be common but according to Apple it is not and I am having a lot of trouble.

I would like to have a copy of my iTunes my (of compressed music) backed up on external HD. Also, I would like to have a second iTunes library (only on the external HD) that houses all of the same music but is uncompressed.

If I am creating movies or other media that requires high sound quality, it seems necessary to have a separate library for all of the original uncompressed music.

But aside from that particular need, I would think that the average user would prefer to have the ability to throw away all of his or hers CDs into the trash by saving them as AIFF on an exteral HD.

Does anyone know how to do this. I was at the Genius Bar for a long time today, but the Apple reps could not figure out how to do it. I would be very appreciative if anyone has done this and knows how.
