I would drop $4000 big ones on a 23". I just hope they announce and allow pre orders this Tuesday. Screw waiting any longer than that!

The prices for LCD screens has come down enough to make a 23" iMac an affordable
possibility.

I'd also like to see Apple offer an iMac Black.

While white looks stunning, it's not very easy to keep clean and some may feel that
a black iMac would look more professional in an office setting.

I like to see a Black One to, but I don't agree with your opinion about the cleankeeping business.
The white iMac models (at least the G5/intel models) are rather easy to clean and dust isn't very visible.
In contrast, I've got black powermacs 5400/5500, back in the days and those were real dirt magnets.

I hope Apple will offer a black keyboard and mouse with it.

As long as iMac has a chin the size of Jay Leno, im keeping the G4.
Now if they brought back the G4 design, with a 23 in display, id want one, but wouldnt buy it. 17' is more then enough for what I do (facebook living)

Hey anyone tought that maybe the 20" will take the 17" price point or maybe bump it 100 as well to 1399 and the 23" will take the the 20" price maybe with a 100 increase as well.

Then they rerelease the 17" edu imac to public?

That sounds realistic to me.

Here's one for all you chin haters, if the 23" really is wall mountable something tells me the chin will be smaller or non-existant. Just something to ponder.

A 23" model might have enough room to allow for a PCI-e expansion slot.

That would be GREAT news for gamers and audio video users.

So what makes you conclude the iMac may lose its?

It might become smaller, it will definitely look smaller.
(just like the 20" iMac chin looks smaller than the 17" iMac chin)

My Viewsonic CRT monitor has a big chin, plus a small brow. My LCD monitor has a little bitty chin with about five buttons on it. Of course a chin without buttons is a bit more conspicuous.

I don't really care if the iMac has a chin or not, personally. I actually didn't know the first Rev G5 iMac was mountable. But what first came to mind when I read the wall mountable rumor was a more cinema display style look. I really don't care what it looks like, it'll be on my desk as soon as Apple can ship it.

I have about 3400-3500 dollars Canadian (I just checked xe.com and 3430 CND = 3100 USD)

I would get a mac pro, but I would have to buy a display as well. And when you factor that in I would only if anything be able to get a low end mac pro. I like the look of the iMac. That, and the Mac Pro would be torture for me because I thrive on maxing out the systems specs. So unless I come up with $17,000, I better stick with the imac

Most of those are better served with the higher end Mac Pro's that are currently offered though, and I believe that the professional purchasing of computers in those fields tends to be for higher end computers anyway. Print and Web media will be well served by a 23" iMac as long as the screen quality and color accuracy is high enough, which means that they will need to use higher end LCD panels which will add to the cost.

If they bump the 17" and have the 20" at its price point, as I feel is likely, then you're probably in luck.

I feel for you, I like the feeling of filling up the specs on a new machine, especially if it's not readily upgradeable.

I maxed out my 12" PB in Sept. 03 and it's still going strong. (Okay, I did upgrade the SuperDrive to a dual-layer 8x and the HD to 80 GB recently, but that was out of necessity as the other ones went bad.)
