[quote] WHAT!? Does Canada use the dollar sign??

Are you daft?

Of course we do. You're one of those Americans that think we all live in Igloos, and have to battle with snow everyday of the year. Don't you Americans know anything about your northern neighbor?

<hr></blockquote>

I apologize for my ignorance but I'm closer to Mexico than Canada and, judging by the fact that I don't have to associate myself with Canadians too often and the fact that many countries with their own currency use their own symbol as well (ie Britain, Japan, France, etc.), don't consider me daft for erring. Remember, I asked and didn't assume. In fact, I believe you're the one who's assuming.

Wow, I love it and I definitely want one. The fact that it has a G4 and a 15" lcd (which is close to a 17" CRT), with Superdrive makes it an incredible value, as I sit here looking at my 17" CRT studio display and 400MHz G4 tower. I haven't upgraded it (except to add RAM) or used any of the slots, yet I'm still paying on the loan for it. When I compare what I have and the new iMac, I'm impressed indeed! Now, if this is the consumer model, the professional model will blow us away (The one question now is when will it be revealed?).

Also, a lot of people are saying how Time goofed by putting up this "early" and how Mr. Jobs is going to go through the roof, but I disagree. Time (and therefore its web presence) are pretty big productions. I'm sure somewhere along the line they said something like, if you want this in January week #2's issue, we start sending out the issues that weekend and the website is updated on Sunday. I'm sure this didn't come as a surprise to Mr. Jobs like everyone thinks it did. This could be another reason that the keynote was moved up a day.

I also don't think this is all the hardware we're going to be seeing Monday. Now, it's time to get to sleep and prepare to get blown away tomorrow at noon (ET).

It's looking a little funny to me. I like the way the screen can rotate so another person can see it too. The small foot print it nice. I wont be buying one.

Does anyone think that Apple might have know about this before hand... spurring the "one more sleepless night" comment on their website? <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

Just a thought

<a href="http://www.mosr.com" target="_blank">MOSR</a> seems to think the display is driven by either AirPort or FireWire. BS I'm sure but I wonder if we'll see a new fw spec tomorrow...

HOT DAMN!

im so glad i took that imac back to circut city in december. i told them i was hoping for a g5 powermac or at LEAST a g4 lcd imac! they laughed at me for returning it after checking the rumor sites. (my feeling was i had nothing to loose, because if the new imac wasen't released i could still buy the old one!) so it looks like we'll get at least one of those!

hope this is real if so god bless apple canada! and this shows: IT PAYS TO READ APPLEINSIDER!

Am I going to get this issue of Time in the mail tomorrow? It ususally comes on Monday with the mail around 1pm EST. That's likely before Jobs will show the iMac at the keynote. I figure Time US is probably the same article right?

Hmm...
I think they realized that they got in a bind with the original iMac (not being able to upgrade the monitor without going up in the size of the entire unit). This fixes that.

No, read it again. They're talking about iPicture there. Not the iPhoto software, but an LCD "active picture frame" sort of device.

Yeah, sorry; I was just so excited.

I read that it was a 17 inch monitor..
"They know how to make a product without [cooling] fans that's quiet, and that has all the things that you'd want on a flat-panel-oriented PC," said Brett Miller, analyst with A.G Edwards & Sons in St. Louis. "They reconfigure their failed cube computer (introduced in August 2000), stick it on the back of a 17-inch panel, and you have a very nice small footprint PC. I think it's a grown-up version of the IMac."

Please notice that this was written in the wee hours of the 5th and we are late into the 6th of december. CBS marketwatch really has no bearing on the time article... in fact, it is presented as opinion where as times is presented as factual.

Has anyone noticed that all we see is a monitor and an oversized base station. I think that this new iMac is completely wireless. The article mentions nothing about the details. My guess is that the keyboard, speakers, and mouse are all wireless, along with a list of other options. Maybe they even came out with a wireless camera. How cool would that be?
Steve must have know this was going to be posted by Time Canada. Just more teasers.

Nah, I dont think so. the article would ahve mentioned it. It would have been a good feature to show off to the millions of readers that Time has. But it wasnt in there. They would ahve mentioned it b/c it is relavant... But the new PMs on the otehrhand were not... (and any other surpises...)

Screen Size, CPU Speed, Memory, Ports aren't mentioned either does that mean none of those things are relavant either? Also I'd don't see any keyboard or mouse... Yet they do mention the size of the base...

"small hemisphere at 26.4 cm in diameter-somewhat bigger than a halved cantaloupe"

Seems like a very odd article to me.

This new iMac is a decoy.

The new tag line on Apple's site:

You ain't seen nothing yet!
That's what I'm sayin'! It's ugly and not the least bit efficient space wise.

Can't believe this design.

No one has mentioned the idea that maybe the article itself isn't what's going to be in the magazine. Yeah, the pictures and the cover probably are. But maybe there was another "decoy" article for the web the night before.

People are suggesting that Time updates their site every Sunday because the issue arrives on Monay. If Jobs new this, maybe he got them to agree to post an article that didn't give away other details the night before in exchange for letting them break this part of the story before his keynote.

I don't know how likely that is, but then again I'm not sure what I believe after this past week.

Hmm... MacMinute now claims they have in their hands the "print edition of this report". This implies that the story's the same in the magazine, buy maybe they're holding out on us too!

Or maybe it's just time for me to go to bed because I'm getting too hopeful for my own good.

Steve must have something else up his sleeve, though...
