Kiss and Tell: Apple needs to fix this

From the New York Times:

"A team of computer security consultants say they have found a flaw in Apple’s wildly popular iPhone that allows them to take control of the device.

The researchers, working for Independent Security Evaluators, a company that tests its clients’ computer security by hacking it, said that they could take control of iPhones through a WiFi connection or by tricking users into going to a Web site that contains malicious code. The hack, the first reported, allowed them to tap the wealth of personal information the phones contain."

If by chance there is a dip in AAPL tomorrow due to this news, could be another buying opportunity.

It's an amazing hack, with two caveats:

- The hackers are not run of the mill, they are at the top of the game.

- They've offered Apple a patch.

Sounds like they are looking for Apple to hire them, and it sounds like Apple should.

Apple should hire every talented hacker they can get their mitts on. Better they work for them than the competition.

This is a security firm, they are not looking for Apple to hire them, but rather pay them a consulting fee. This is one of the ways they get their money (the other is that large firms pay them to tell them if they are safe or not). The other advantage to them for this is that if Apple credits them in their security patch (the first one for the iPhone) then their name is out there in big lights, and they can use this in their promotional materials when selling their services to other clients.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. By "hire" I meant hire as consultants, same as you.
