Changing computers name

Is there an easy way to change the computers name without screwing anything up? I seem to remember just going in and typing a new name and then another folder was created or something and seemed to mess some things up.
Thanks

Sounds like you are describing changing your home folder's name, which is a very bad idea. As for the computer's name, it's easy. Open System Preferences, go to the Sharing pane (fourth icon on the third row) and the text field on the top will contain the computer's name, which is easily changed.

Yeh, I wanted to change the home folders name. I better not try it.
