I am purchasing a new MacBook and want to immediately upgrade the RAM. This will be my first RAM purchase for a Mac. Any tips on what brands to buy and/or avoid and where to buy or not buy? Thanks.

I get my stuff from www.newegg.com
I've had good luck with muskin so far. Crucial is also good. Any name brand PC ram works just match the specs with what apple states.
this is good ram and a great deal:

I recommend maxing the RAM to 4GB. I put 4GB into my May 2007 MacBook and it made a big difference:

I also upgraded to a Hitachi 200GB 7200 RPM HD - also a performance boost:

Although I'm only running a MacBook with the specs shown below, I can't imagine getting anything faster for the money.
