How to change MIME-type association?

Hello all,

I'd like to change some MIME-type associations, i.e. which program opens which file type. So far I have only found out how to change this setting for a single file (e.g. opening a wmv file with VLC instead of Quicktime via "Open with" ) but I've yet to find the place where I can change this setting globally.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

With best regards,
Erunno

Hold down the ALT key while choosing File > Open With... and it will change to "Always Open With..."

Or, you can choose File > Get Info... change the Open With: app and then click on "Change All..."

The final option is to install RCDefualtApp which gives you a nice System Preference where you can manage all the file extensions, default apps, MIME types, etc.

That did the trick. Thanks for the quick response!
