Gwah... I've been doing that sort of work off and on for years, and I never saw it as a sort of profession or something I would hope to develop into. Employers love to see it as a part of your resumé, or at least that has been the case for me, but when I get good jobs it is usually because they like a combination of things on my resumé. If you want to get a truly professional job in IT with corresponding pay (and you are in an area that offers those jobs) youll want to start building up those certs (CISCO, Microsoft, etc.).
That said, just keep looking and be patient. Something will come along.
