No, they don't remember their settings unless you do what has worked in all versions of OSX. Close all the finder windows, open a new one, resize, choose view, position where you want it, then CLOSE IT RIGHT AWAY. Open a new window et viola! a properly sized and positioned window. Annoying, yes, but workaroundable.

I'd like to see one that runs any itunes plugin, using a sound input source of your choice (eg internal microphone).

This is part of CUPS printing, which will actually bring a more general ability to share printers over just about anything.

That comment about the fist gave me a really funny idea...

I really want to figure out how to hack the cursor so I can make a hand that "juggles" 4 glass balls in a pyramid or some such, much like the DavidBowie-GoblinKing in that wicked as Henson movie Labrynth (remember that old school flick? Jennifer Connelly..yum)

Anyhow...just made it come to mind... a fist that twirls a few Aqua gemstone balls all in one hand would be schweeet....

Anyway, I've been scouring the resources and haven't found anything on the new spinning aqua beachball cursor. I'm sure once we find it (if we find it), themers will go wild with modifications.

TheyÂre not fond of rules.

Â*Â*Â*Â* And they have no respect for the status quo.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,

Â*Â*Â*Â* disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you canÂt do is ignore them.

Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Â*Because they change things.

They invent.Â*Â*Â*Â*They imagine.Â*Â*Â*Â*They heal.

They explore.Â*Â*Â*Â*They create.Â*Â*Â*Â*They inspire.

They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art?
Or sit in silence and hear a song thatÂs never been written?
Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones,
Â*Â*Â*we see genius.

Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Seems that Toast Ti will not function under 10.2, just quits with no error. Even tried reloading it. However VPC launches and runs just fine. Fire does not run in its current form, but Proteus does. Photoshop 7 works fine. So does my scanner software for my Lexmark X83. However I cannot get the printer drivers for the X83 to load, and they worked fine in 10.1.x. Hope this helps someone.

Don't know if this has been posted already, but AirPort power settings are now saved with network locations.

Also, DVD Player doesn't seem to work on my TiBook -- it quits immediately at startup with a dialog saying "There was a system error. 1634955892." Anyone else have this problem?

I can't find Inkwell in the Developers Preview (6C35) - am I missing something or is it simply not there ?

Also, does anyone know what the score is with USB printers and CUPS ? Do we need new drivers or does USB printing fall outside of the scope of CUPS ( which seems more about network printing ) ?

Love 10.2 otherwise ... so much faster ...

What's up with the search box in Jaguar,

this is a screenshot i just took. I got it by making a finderwindow small enough so that the double arrow thing appears in the toolbar, then i clicked on search and got this.

I should say that im not running any themes.

I understand that it's not there at all.

As for the funky Finder search, no idea, but I noticed it too in screenshots. I would assume that they just haven't made it pretty yet, but there's an outside chance that they're removing some of the pinstripe backgrounds. They did it in the Dock too, after all.

well, thats enough of Jag for me..

its just too glitchy for me. Entourage is pissing me off and other things are not working great.

At the end of the day it makes my workflow hateful.

So, anyway, fun to see what we can expect and promises VERY well.

How well do they behave???? I am having trouble updating FCP to 3.02. I plan to just stick with 3.01 . If this version runs without problem under Jaquar I will consider upgrade this OS.....

Keep in mind that all sort of things will be broken in a prerelease build, so incompatibility with the developer preview does not imply imcompatibility with the released product.

According to this rumor Jaguar will ship MWNY.
i would much rather that Jaguar/10.2 ships in September and that it be REALLY kickass instead of a hurried job and released at MWNY.

From what I have seen and tried, Jaguar is doing pretty damn well... who knows if Apple will manage.

Not only will Apple manage, but is MWNY enough time for DEVELOPERS to make adequate adjustments?

Plus, if its released at AppleExpo in Paris, it gives me something more to look forward too

my totally uneducated guess is beta (maybe public beta, maybe not) at MWNY and full release in paris.

I've noticed Apple hasn't been terribly aggressive trying to get rumor sites to pull Jaguar screenshots. Do they figure that a) the cat is out of the bag b)trying a new strategy with the Mac web might be more constructive than sending a cease and desist letter every 5 minutes.

Perhaps it is a bit of a sign it is nearer rather than farther

I inferred from the XServe presentation that 10.1.5 is coming along in June (the XServe was running 10.1.5), so MWNY isn't out of line for Jaguar.

I think "late summer" is a lesson learned from the public beta "technically, late september is stil summer!" FUBAR. I wouldn't be surprised if they have mid-July written all over their calendars in their cubicles, but instead giving themselves plenty of breathing room in public. Software is ALWAYS late.
What about printing...
Is CUPS printing implemented in Jaguar? Is it any faster/more stable than 10.1.x printing?
Is it possible to select more options, are the printing dialogs more useful, do they allow more specific output options? Is it possible to change the default PDF-generation settings?

Hi everyone,

Got a question about mail.

Could someone with Jaguar try this :
Drag a file on the Mail icon in the dock.

Does it do anything?

Basically, I would like to know if they have implemented a feature that allow you to create a new message with a enclosed document just by dragging the file to the mail icon.

Thanks,

Philippe

Libran as in Libra? Umm, no but I am a Scorpio

BTW, the list of supported scanners is not officially available because its a developer preview. But if you look on this page or the last one I think StarFleetX wrote a few Epson scanners that were supported.
There *should* be a lot more by the time it ships.

Starfleet-
In the Midi/Audio Devices prefrences, is there an option for more that 2 channels of output? It looks like it's a pull down menu. Can you show or speak to what's listed there? I'm practically dying to use my G4 as a home theater PC, but without 5.1 sound, it just isn't worth it.
