It's That TIme Again: Wall-E Thread!

Pixar releases Wall-E Friday, June 27th.

I'm psyched because a charming, simple story about robots in love looks super-fascinating.

I wonder where the reviews are, though. Rotten Tomatoes only has three as of this post, all positive. Ebert's fill-in on Ebert and Roeper annoyingly refers to the robot as "Wall....E" (emphasis on the E). Stanton himself says "Wally." Pretty sure that's how it's supposed to be said.

Anyway, I can't wait for some of the heavy hitters to submit their reviews.

Wall-E's voice is by living legend Ben Burtt, who you might recognize as the voice and personality of R2-D2. He also happens to be one heck of a sound designer.

Definitely.

Stanton wanted to make an "R2-D2 love story in space."

I liked the description that I heard: trashcan falls in love with an iPod.

Your = the possessive of you, as in, "Your name is Tom, right?" or "What is your name?"

I saw both wall-e and wanted. Wall-e was excellent, easily one of the best of the pixar films. Waned on the other hand had good action and the very occasional well placed humor, but the plot was pretty bad. The only sex scene didn't even involve Angelina Jolie, a disapointment, to be sure.

Wall-E was excellent! Good story, interesting characters, even though there is almost no dialog in the first half of the movie.

Pixar's best effort yet, right up there with Toy Story.

The CGI was so good, it didn't even look like CGI. (if you know what I mean)

I saw it on Saturday with my 3yo daughter. Best movie I've seen this year. It takes a lot for a movie with so little dialogue, especially from the main characters, to keep your attention and be great. The CGI was spectacular, like iPoster mentioned above, some of the scenes you could hardly tell it was computer generated. And it also had a really good message for the audience with out being too preachy.

Good to hear it's getting the thumbs up from the AO crowd.

I'm seeing it Thursday on a date (go me!).

What's interesting is that neither Stanton nor Bird have any films lined up for Pixar for at least 4-5 years.* Up, Toy Story Tres, Newt, The Bear and the Bow, and Cars Dos (2012) are all by other directors. Up looks promising since it's by the Monster's Inc director. The first Cars sequel does not, since I wasn't too much of a fan of the first installment.

However, I read that all of Pixar's films from now on will be in 3-D.

What!?

Edit: Interestingly, Brad Bird is doing work on a live action film called 1906, purportedly a Pixar film. It's not on the schedule, so I don't know what's going on here.
