Are there any free astronomy star chart applications available for the iPod Touch or iPhone? My search on the Application Store only turned up programs for purchase like Star Walk.

I know one free app, which is called Stars, but it's really scanty. Star Walk is prob the best astronomy app for iPhone. Too bad Apple doesn't allow trial versions, but you can read a detailed astro app review here: http://physics.weber.edu/schroeder/iPhoneStarApps/
It seems responsible because written by an astronomer.

Thanks for the plug. Actually I'm not quite an astronomer; I'm a physicist who also teaches introductory astronomy and enjoys looking at the stars. As the review says, all seven of the serious star-charting apps are good, and the choice depends on what you're looking for. Enjoy!

Another two thumbs up for this review ... it's amazing and the go-to "astronomy" app review available on the web ... nicely done, you've been Stumbled!
