Thanks for giving me the link to "The rest of the story." I never owned a true Walkman, but have used cassette portables. 8-Tracks too. Before the Walkman, portable often meant it included a handle. EDIT: Go here, then to page 4:
I had the first generation Walkman and used to love it. It seemed so amazing that you could listen to your cassette tapes on a portable hand-held device at the time.
