On vacation - Backing up AVCHD & Pics on portable HD. HELP
Going on an extended vacation soon and I wanted to take my digital camera and a small HD camcorder. I am trying to save on weight so I've been looking at HD cameras such as the Panny HDC SD10 which uses SD cards recording in AVCHD.
As such I was thinking of buying a portable external HD such as the Seagate Freeagent Go 320gb and transferring all of my photos and video files to it as and when I fill up the cards, thus erasing & freeing up space again.
Now, I have a few questions which I really hope some of you can answer.
!; Is the portable external HD idea a goer? Should it be simple enough to transfer all of my pics and AVCHD video files to it given that I will have access to internet cafes? I ask because I realise that to do so I will need to buy a FAT formatted drive to use with the Windoze machines I will encounter. Any forseeable problems as far as file sizes etc?
2: Which video files would I have to drag n' drop to the ext. Hdd? All of them? One particular file?
3: I know little about the structure or compatibility of AVCHD files so has Apple included support for such recently?
4: Any recommendations on HD camcorders? Preferably mid-priced flash based models. Good video/audio quality are the main ideals.
Thanks to all in advance!
