iTunes no longer accepting AOL ID's

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had trouble logging into an itunes account with an AOL SN today. I went to download a new app and it requested that I update my account with an apple ID. (Not a big deal for me, but I was curious if anyone knew why apple was eliminating the aol access).
