Best chat/IM app??
I've tried several apps for chatting/IM and I can't find one. Any suggestions?
I tried fring, but it does not have landscape keyboard.
I tried IM+ but it doesn't notify you if you are using another app.
I tried Nimbuzz but it doesn't save your chats if you come back to them from another app.
I tried ebuddy but landscape doesn't work, and it crashes a lot.
Right now I'm using Nimbuzz because I like the landscape keyboard, it supports AIM/Mobile Me and google chat, and it does a good job notifying me of a message if I'm in another app. But I can't see my chats once I come back, it's like starting all over again. I want something like Adium or iChat for the iPhone/iPod.
Palringo admits the new version with push notification is not yet available.
Anyone tried Beejive? For that much money I want to be sure it works. Does it have landscape? Can I see my chats if I come back in the app? How well do notifications work if I'm in another app?
Thanks!

I use Beejive. It works fairly well, no complaints. yes, it has landscape mode in chats and yes chats are saved and you can get back to them when you reopen the app (unless you 'delete' them first, then they are gone). Notifcations work fine, whether you are in another app, on the home screen or the phone is idle. You get a little notification message with a preview of the message and buttons to either close the notification or view the message, which launches the app.
Parlingo and the other free IMs with Push will have some limitations over the paid apps. For instance, I believe that parlingo will only keep you logged into your various accounts for 30 minutes after closing the app. BeeJive, and IM+ I think, will keep you logged in for up to 24 hours, dependingon how yo configure. This makes a big difference, since with Parlingo you would also have to be opening the app to keep yourself logged in so you can receive messages (well, notifications anyway).
thank you for the detailed response. Sounds like I will be buying beejive.
