Discount on iPhone on renewing 18 mnth contract? UK

I bought 2G phone in Apr 08 and am approaching the end of that contract. Lost phone last week and was gna buy out of contract to get 3GS but on the phone to O2 helpline it was hinted there'd be a discount on the new handset if I waited it out.



Can any one confirm?

    I'm not very sure but I don't think there is a discount though on O2.
