Do not want to sync applications and lose everything

I do not want to sync any applications so I don't click the checkbox in iTunes (Windows). Yet when I started to sync the stupid software was telling me that it wanted to remove all the existing applications on my iPhone. For some reason now(?) it has stopped trying to do that.

Now if I want to add a new selected application I cannot do so without losing all the current inherited applications on my iPhone.

    You already have apps on your iPhone... so they are already in your iTunes... I don't see where your problem is ... just select the ones you want to keep (so they stay on the phone) and also the "new" one you wish to add.
