Your Dream Home

Here's a quick sketch of mine in Illustrator.

That truly is my dream home, I've had four dreams about it. Man, that place rules.

Indoor restaurants, vending machines, elevators, waterfalls, rooms full of flight simulators, thousands of Macs, etc. It's about 1000 feet long .

The central tower thing would be my "room," the second floor area on the left is housing for my employees, the area behind the tower is the main dining area, and the area on the right is offices, computer labs, and other things.

Everyone at AI could pitch in money to get this built and then you could all live there.

BTW, that picture isn't quite exact, so it looks a little funky in places, but you get the general idea. I hope.

I take it you're not trained as an architect?

My attempts at this quickly turn into a cacophony of every little widget and idea I like from all corners of the architecture world. I don't think I'll know until I have 1. a site to put the thing (another case of wanting everything in one place), and a more specific program (am I married? car commuter? what?)

As an aside, I know this one architect, the former Dean of Columbia's architecture program, who once declared that "houses are the pornography of architecture." Take that however you like, I just thought it was an interesting way of looking at homes.

just make sure you don't have a wall to wall picture window in your great room and then want a bathroom above...

yea, someone actually asked me if they could use clear sewer pipe...

now that would make interesting conversation during parties...

Speaking of "dream homes," Genesis was just sold in Hong Kong for under $30M. It was once valued at over $150M. $2500 per square foot. It was disgustingly gaudy though...
