HP adheres to the tried and true PC tradition, copy Apple.

Please welcome the 13" and 15" Macbook Pros....I mean HP envy series. They even have the glass trackpad.

In all fairness though, Apple copied HP first. HP have had the black screen, black keyboard and silver body look for a while:

Whenever the first photos of this generation Mac laptops came out, that was a common observation (comparing to Sony and HP) and that it wasn't a good move as it made them look too much like PCs.

If Apple use HP's style and refine it, then HP use Apple's changes to refine their own brand, it's not fair to say they are the only ones copying. It's true that the changes HP made are a lot closer to Apple than the ones Apple made were to HP though.

It's funny reading some of the comments from Windows people on sites like Engadget. Every time Apple does something, they put it down as too expensive or they don't like the style or just generally hate Apple. Then when Dell with the Adamo, Acer with their Air knock-offs or HP with this come along, suddenly they admire them but casually note that they are a bit too expensive as if Apple rips people off but the PC manufacturers just priced a bit too high by accident.

Agreed. At this point, they should just give up and go away. I would have more respect for them if they put a sticker on it that said "Inspired by " No button, glass trackpad and recessed keyboard Is HP's way of saying "I'm a Mac, too!" I expect them to start shipping systems with custom wallpaper that features wild cats with blood dripping from their chops.

I can't wait to see these show up in Laptop Hunter ads

Good points. To me the Dell Adamo was a good effort to at least try to out do Apple. Its not for me, I think its a bit on the garish side for my tastes. But at least it tried to distinguish itself while still following Apple's concept.

The new HP stuff is just an out and out copy job. From a company that has a long history of tech innovation. I have to believe there are some long time employees there that are shaking their heads over this one.
