iTunes 9.0.1 has just been released. It appears to fix issues with random crashes, makes the zoom button turn it into the mini-player, and addresses performance issues with iPhone application syncing.
The first thing it did was fail to sync my unmodified iPhone 3GS. After a few tries getting only error messages, it put up the restore screen. I am now restoring my iPhone from backup. Not good.
