Since two or three threads I've read involve United States vs. Europe lashings I thought I'd make a new thread for you all to get your aggressions out.

I'll even supply some topics to branch off of.

1) Does Europe suck or what?

2) Hey what about the Rennaisance thing that was cool...

3) Rock n' Roll... its up there...

4) Isaac Newton was European hrmm...

5) The death penalty originated in Europe and what about Vlad the impaler he ran his own European country (for all you death penalty fans out there).

6) Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum, 'nuff said about that.

7) The French suck, they're European.

8) European cars kick ass.

Ok I'm done playing devil's advocate... have fun

I like European (German) cars (I've had several VW's and a BMW)! I've been to Europe a few times mostly in Portugal and Spain. I want to visit England and Germany though. But the attitiudes of some Europeans really rubs me the wrong way. Especially the common thinking in France and Scandanavia and their anti-US perceptions. But we have people like that her in the US so I guess it's not a European thing.

In words may be , you know french people are the specialist of the negative thinking and complaining, but in act , France in all major conflicts is behind the US : iracq, bosnia, afghanistan ...

Acts are more important than words.

Then you must have seen something last time you were here that I don´t see  Where did you get your view on our "common thinking" from? I disagree in a lot of issues with the US political system and what I understand is the general view of the population. And I like to argue about it on an informative basis. But I am not anti-US in any sense.

Precisely what do you mean with anti-US perceptions? The only here for instance from scandinavia who was anti-US was that swedish cat before The Great Breakdown. New and I argue against certaint issues not against US in general.

keep cool , Anders this thread is just a provocation, perhaps this thread is an allusion about threads like "why all americans are so stupid". I don't reply to this thread because this type of thread doesn't merit a hundred of replies.

I don't think Europeans all suck but everyone of my friends that have been to France said that when they tell people (strangers or shop keepers, not family) they are American, they get treated rudely, tricked, and taken advantage of. I've had similar experiences in Europe too. In the USA, 99% of the time, we treat our tourists with respect and hospitality. Now I've also heard that some friends that have been to other parts of Europe (Germany, England, Denmark, Switzerland, ...) get great hospitality and people are mostly nice, warm, and helpful to strangers.

France is worthless. They also stink. Is there a French word for 'soap' or 'shower'? ......................

Man that reminds me. I have this friend from Romania. Guy stunk all the time. Since he got married his wife cleaned him up. But one day we asked him about it.

Americans: Hey how come you Europeans don't shower all the time.

Romanian: You Americans are obsessed with cleanliness.

    Americans: That's bullshit.

Romanian: No it's true. You are trying to wash the blood of the Indians and former slaves off your hands.

Okay he got us good on that one were laughing our ass off now but I shoot back

Me: What about the Jews man. You Europeans killed off all the Jews.

Romanian: The Germans are a very clean people.

Oh man he fucking had us at every turn. They were the best comebacks I've ever heard.

Perhaps the problem is that all the smart Europeans live here and are now called Americans. The rest of you didn't have the guts to leave and now envy the ones who did.

That may have been true but Europe is a lot better place than it was 30 years ago or even 20 years ago. All my fater's brothers came here at the same time from Portugal and france because of the situation there. Few jobs and they didn't pay well. they would see that their older brother lived like a king here in the states and came over. But you go there now and it's totally different. i think the whole European Union initiative helped with that.

I think the americans should be very carefull at pointing at their ancestors, or did you guys not realize all white's over there came from Europe, all blacks from Africa, only the indians etc etc etc.

Did you guys knew New York was previously named Nieuw Amsterdam, don't you know that a lot of areas are named after dutch cities like Harlem, dutch city Haarlem etc etc...

You guys say bad things about France, I've been on vacation for more than 10 times to France, it's by far the most beautiful country in Europe. I have only met really nice and helpful people... bad is they hardly speak any other language than french..

But if you go to big cities (where I've never been in France) I'm sure people aren't that nice, same as in all other countries.

You guys expect people to act and react the same as where you're coming from...

Yeah, and I shower twice a day!!

no Scott, I'm sorry to say this, but I don't like Germany at all. That's because of history I guess..

Why are the Germans digging in your beach?
