Looking for Some Purchasing Advice, Buying a MacBook Soon

Okay so I'll start by saying I have been an iPhone customer for 2 years now and they have done a great job with both the 3G and the 3G S. I was never really a fan of Apple until after I got my hands on an iPhone. And after my girlfriend bought a MacBook I finally understood why everyone is talking about Apple and why they're all so happy with their MacBooks.

So now I'm looking at purchasing one for myself, in the very near future, I'm talking before Christmas this year (2009). And I wanted to ask a few things.

I know with the iPhone they so far have been releasing a new one pretty much every year right? Do they do the same with the MacBook?

Basically I don't want to end up purchasing a MacBook soon and then like 2 months down the road they release a new one with some very worth while changes (like the iPhone 3G vs. iPhone 3G S).

If they do release a new one about every year could you guys please tell me about when they do that, I know with the iPhone it's usually June/July. And the iPods are in the fall every year.

Also I wanted to get some opinions on AppleCare, is it worth it? Because it is very expensive, what is the default warranty that comes with a MacBook? It's a year isn't it?

Thanks in advance for your answers and advice.

apple computer hardware refreshes tend to be around the month of october and you should wait cause there are alot of rumors that the macbook is about to get a major redesign in the next week or two. im pretty sure a year of applecare should be enough IMO because if any hardware is faulty it will appear within the year, after the year take good care of your mac. hope this helped, goodluck with ur buy and congrats on converting to mac!

Okay so now the new MacBooks are out and beautiful they are. Do you think they'll be offering a free iPod touch with them anytime soon again? Because I'd be pretty mad if I bought one and a few weeks later they release them with free iPod touches lol. Also does anyone know what kind of chnages they're going to do if they update them again in may 2010?

Higher specced CPUs and GPUs, more RAM, bigger HDs, perfected unibody/manufacturing quality (and, speculative: touch screen, and lower pricing).

The next iteration of MacBook Pros is speculated to have a quadcore CPU.
