Do Apple use Desktop Graphics Chip on iMac?

I have someone keep arguing with me that iMac uses Desktop Graphics Chip.

The worst thing is si couldn't find any concrete evidence to prove him wrong.



I am 99.9% certain it uses Mobile Variant of ATI and Nvidia with different naming Scheme.

( Like without the M and Mobility branding )

    I don't know about the current machines, but they have done this in the past. For instance the "2600 Pro" in my iMac is actually a mobility 2600xt and the 8800GS is actually a 8800M GTS. If I had to bet I would say they were mobile based on what Apple has done in the past.

    No. They've always been mobile GPUs. Apple plays games with the name of the graphics chip to try and hide this.
