whenever I move the mouse to the toolbar section of the Finder up in the right-hand corner where the time/day/eject/time machine/audio/bluetooth symbols are located. It's not anything to do with Expose, that still works fine.

Only thing I've done recently is to install Snow Leopard and now that has happened AND my Itunes won't recognize any of my three IPODs.

Anyone have any idea what is going on or how to try to debug/fix the problem? Finder toolbar problem is really irritating because now I can't access Time Machine or Eject or change the language input or any of that stuff from the top right corner toolbar!

thanks in advance

You've probably got a third-party menu item that's incompatible with Snow Leopard. Could you provide a screen-shot of your menu bar?

BTW, the "Spinning Circle" is more commonly referred to as "the spinning beach-ball of death"!

There is a fundamental difference with Window's 'BSOD' (Blue Screen Of Death) though:

the spinning beachball does mean that the process is still working, only at a terribly reduced speed. Often you will find that, if left alone long enough, the process has eventually struggled through the bug and you regain access to that process/app. Just as often, though, the process is in an infinite loop (yes, a pleonasm, I know). So then: yes, it still works, but it isn't going anywhere. It is 'catatonic'. And needs a jolt of some kind to snap out of it. Like a 'Force Quit' of that particular app. Or a (Force) Quit of the process via the Activity Monitor. So the spinning beachball does not neccessarily mean the system is at the end of the line (although restarting is often a good remedy).

The Windows 'BSOD' (Blue Screen Of Death), however, means exactly that: end of session! The system is dead! Nothing moves until you (re)boot.
