64-bit Safari reduces battery life by 45%

This is very strange:

Switching back to 32-bit Safari restores battery life! Well worth looking into.

    Could be Flash that's the culprit though. They should have run the same test with Flash blocked/plug-ins disabled on both operating systems. Adobe need to do some optimization to the Mac version. Viewing some web pages with ads and video uses way more CPU than it should.

    Well the tests were both with flash, which yes sucks CPU cycles. BUT the 32-bit Safari/flash battery test lasted 45% longer than the 64-bit Safari/flash battery test.



    Anand reported the results to Apple... silence (they're probably aware). It's obviously not great if you buy a $2500 laptop with a 7 hour battery life, just to have flash ads be responsible for decreasing your battery life by half.
