iMac somehow won't turn on.

Hello! I don't know anything about Apple Computers or anything related to that and don't know anything about this forum, so if I do something wrong please tell me. So here's my question (problem)

My iMac won't turn on. I plugged the cord in and I pressed the power button but I didn't turn on. I didn't do anything wrong before this happened. Can anyone help me solve this problem? Is the power cord broken or is it the iMac itself? I am very frustrated now because I don't want to spend money to fix it. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

When you plug it into an outlet that's controlled by a wall-switch, the wall-switch must be "on".

Does a lamp work if plugged into the same outlet?

Do you know what a multi-meter is?

Perhaps you should take the iMac to an AppleStore or other Apple-authorized repair shop.
