Have MacBook Pro 17" new 2009. Running 10.6

Grey screen at boot up. NO spinning wheel

Can not boot in X, T, S, or OF Mode

Can not boot using CD.

Think there is a CD in drive - can not eject.

Have looked in ever MAC forum I could find.

No one having same issue.

Decided to post before i have to send it off to AppleCare Service Provider.

I'm guessing a crashed HD or a wonky I/O port. The HD and the CD/DVD drive share that I/O port, and when the HD has crashed it blocks/stymies the I/O port so that the CD/DVD drive doesn't work anymore either. While there is probably nothing wrong with it. If the I/O port is wonky it blocks (startup) data from both the HD and the CD/DVD reaching the CPU.

Pray for a crashed HD, because the I/O port is on the motherboard.

Send it to the tech guys.

You got a good backup of your data?

    Good luck.
