Hi, Guys, long ago put all my vinyl onto videotape & later onto DVDs. Will the Mac accept these if I play them on my DVD player & run the headphone cable to the music input socket? If not, how to transfer?
What is the format on the DVD... is it a DVD full of mps files or just a "normal" DVD... plays like a movie, but with just the music ?
Either way, running a cable from DVD output to the Mac's audio input will work, but will result in a huge loss of quality. Better would be to pick a program that will rip the DVD to an mp4 format, then extract the audio from that as an mp3 file. You'll likely have to manually split it into it's various tracks.
Tedious, but you'll end up with standard mp3 files that should transfer from computer to computer, and from one media to another for several years without problem.
