Iphone 3GS review, pros and cons.?
I'm thinking about getting an Iphone 3GS and I was wondering what other people thought of it. Does it seem to work well and are all the features like internet, video camera gps etc, any good?
I knew a guy who had an earlier version of the Iphone but he just casually mentioned that he liked it, didn't say why.
Also, for the AT&T data plan, does it include unlimited internet access or do you have to pay every time you sign on?
I just want peoples general opinion of the phone and AT&T iphone plan

I won't speak for AT&T.
I will say Apple has done an EXCELLENT job with the iPhone 3GS, It's got over 100 New features for the end users (Like you and myself). Video is NOW a HUGE feature for the iPhone 3GS, not only can you record a video but you can trim (which is edit) the video within the application.
Internet is much faster then the iPhone 3G (Which is still a great alternative). Though the 3GS has 2x and in some cases 5x speed ups compared to the 3G.
Other Great features on the device are:
- Voice Control (Basically you say it, and the phone does it)
- MMS (Which is even better on the iPhone, not only can you send video & pictures, now you can share your location with friends and send and recieve contacts, along with send voice memos)
- The Compass App
- Spotlight built in
Much much more...... Remember Apple added 100 new features to the iPhone 3GS for consumers.Check it out at a local Apple store or AT&T Store.

Internet:
The experience is very good. Most websites are very usable; the few that are not are are dependent on Flash in some way. Other than that the mobile internet experience is very good and Safari is well implemented. It's also very fast where ever I have been.
Apps:
So much variety, sometimes I'm overwhelmed when looking for an app for a specific thing I want it to do. Some people wouldn't consider it a bad thing. Overall integration of the Apple apps is top notch.
Keyboard:
Works better than i thought it would. You have to be careful when putting in passwords but when typing regular messages it corrects very well and I find myself typing faster than I did on my Q.
Voice Control is awesome. you'll see.
ActiveSync works better than I thought it would, much better than my WinMo device I replaced it with. It connects to the calendar, contacts and mail apps seamlessly. No issues with meeting requests, I can browse the GAL, and multiple mailboxes are treated separately.
iPod, Mail, texting, all work well. No issues so far.
So far it's been a 9 out of 10.
Just some thoughts, which seem to make sense. Venture to avoid being contracted by carrier right now. It's pointless, because the new version (and possibly not the only) of the device is gonna be out in June. Look around and try to get unlocked iPhone as cheap as possible, then subscribe some cheap data plan which you can give up at any moment and wait for shiny brand new iPhone 2010. There are places where iPhones are sold officially unlocked (Hong Kong for one); look first for resellers from out there.
Beware, 3GS brings absolutely no value on top of 3G. If you see cheap unlocked 3G, go get it no doubts. The application implementing mediocre video recording capabilities on 3G costs just $.99; everything else in 'S' either is possible on 3G as well or is not worth the price difference.
