The new E-Orbo energy technology by Steorn.

Have any of you heard about the E-Orbo technology?

The Irish company Steorn is launching it this month in Dublin.

Apparently, the E-Orbo is a type of brushless pulse motor that does not experience a back EMF and has over 100% efficiency.

Steorn has posted a video of a "talk" about their technology. In the video they perform a set of experiments that seem to verify their claims.

Steorn will be continuing their demo this month at the Waterways center in Dublin, Ireland. More videos are to be posted.

What do you think?

This sort of thing has been tried before:

It seems what they are trying to do is to convert the back EMF into electricity to feed the motor instead of it normally repelling the movement.

As the article suggests, they are just making the motors more efficient rather than >100% efficient. If they were making them >100% efficient, they could quite simply construct a perpetually running demonstration without batteries to prove it. As the Youtube comments point out, a capacitor would suffice.

The Steorn company hasn't done too well financially so they will initially build up hype and some cash from people signing up to study their material at ?419 each (no refunds as you'd expect with a knowledge base):

They also get an advertising platform for their measurement equipment that they sell.

If they only eventually commercialize efficient motors, it's still something that can benefit everyone (especially as we transition to electric cars) but selling it as something it's not is fraudulent. It certainly could be an honest mistake but when money and businesses are at stake it's unlikely.

Steorn's demo starts back today. Will anyone be watching it? You will be able to watch streaming video at http://www.steorn.com

What do all of you think about the latest video Steorn has posted?

Steorn's Orbo Electromagnetic Interaction COP is greater than 1. Part 1 of 5

I think it's very interesting. It seems they are not backing down from their claims.

The last video makes it clearly look like a scam. The insistence that they are developing intellectual property not products and that the developments are meant to be used by people who understand them. They are pushing for people to access their knowledge base, which is priced as above.

The question at the end was quite appropriate - why haven't they demonstrated it properly if it works? They are trying to convince people that it works by showing electrical meters (which they also sell coincidentally) on a prototype. If that prototype behaves the way they suggest, it can be used for a proper demonstration. The excuse given was that it would take a billion dollar plant to make a self-sustaining product and there was a suggestion the phenomenon may come from zero-point energy. Utterly ridiculous.

Clearly the audience was not convinced and the guy was not very good at holding it together. I hope they do eventually have something meaningful to show because it's not nice to purposely waste R&D funding and people's time.

Do I think it's interesting that a small company has worked out a way to violate the first and second laws of thermodynamics, thereby throwing everything we know about the functioning of the universe into chaos?

    No.

Steorn has proven that the E-Orbo is overunity.

Sigh. You Tube videos aren't "proof" of anything. They've been trotting this stuff around for years, but never have provided any particulars beyond some hand waving about some magic properties of magnetism that only they have tumbled to. The basis of these latest "demonstrations" is the bald faced claim that the rechargeable battery powering the "experiment" is being recharged rather than drained, even though (of course) no one gets to verify that.

Really, there's nothing there, unless you find "scientists" talking about traces on oscilloscopes to be compelling.
