Can I use Elgato video capture to connect my wii to my mac?

I'm thinking of buying an elgato video capture because I've got some old Hi8 cassette I want to convert.

I'd like to know if I can connect my wii to my computer using this device.

Or do I need to buy the eyetv hybrid?

I know that eyetv hybrid can convert video too, but I read that it's much faster and easier to use video capture to transfer home video to your mac.

thanks for your help

    hey

I've not got any experience with either of the products you've mentioned - but I looked into this about a year ago.

The problem I found then was that most of the cheaper alternatives had slight lag. Now this made no difference if you were just recording video from a vhs or similar, but when playing games it would be a bit too much to play reasonably. (ie it would take a second or so to see the results of controller input.)

the only systems that seemed to get over this were the much more expensive ones!!

    hope thats of some help.

I've got an older Canopus ADVC-100 converter and a Wii. I'll try to connect the Wii today or tomorrow and let you know how it goes.
