Why does a huge corporation like Google continue to be on it's knees and dependant on

a relatively small company like Adobe and it's monopolistic flash player. Why hasn't you tube vanquished flash by now and moved to open web standards like HTML 5 for video content. Google is the only one that can break the lock hold that Adobe has over the entire internet!

    Because HTML 5 is not ratified yet. Because IE does not support HTML 5 and IE still has an insane market share

    No not that one. The one that doesn't support the video tag as would be required to replace Flash as the op suggested.

    btw Apple is pretty high up in the monopolistic scale, with close down hardware and AppleStore force feeding...

    Yea because Apple is the only company that makes computers, operating systems, smart phones and software. Excellent point you didn't make.
