FCP Express or iLife Upgrade News?

I am getting ready to purchase a new iMac (21.5" with the ATI video card) and am looking to purchase FCP Express, but want to wait if there are updates to FCP-E or iLife 10 looming on the horizon. Any ideas about upgrades for either of these products? I know FCP-E has been around in its current version since Nov. 2007, so I figure we're due for an update. Any news?

Ask yourself what exactly you expect to gain by delaying the computer and software that you want. The only reason to hold-off on buying software is that the current version is incompatible with your hardware or you just don't have the money to buy it. What do you expect to gain by delaying the purchase of a new computer? If you want the new 27" iMac, then the delay is justified owing to some glitches in the computer. I am aware of no problems with the 21.5" model. The computer of which you are delaying the purchase is not tied to the software of which you are delaying the purchase.

Thank you for your reply. I wasn't clear on my question about delaying the purchase of my computer. In my thinking, if I delayed the purchase of the computer, iLife 10 would come pre-installed on the machine versus getting iLife 09 and then having to upgrade to iLife 10 for an additional cost.

My question about FCP-E is much the same. I'm not interested in purchasing the current version if another release is coming soon, meaning I'd have to pay for an additional upgrade. I'd rather wait and pay one price rather than pay twice just for the benefit of "having it now."

Truth be told, I'm actually looking at getting a refurb iMac that has a price break already, so the price to upgrade to iLife 10 is moot anyway.

Next week is MacWorld Expo, so there will likely be a flood of third party announcements.

Apple, however, will be absent from MWX this year.

So it's anybody's guess how long they will take to stop slowly killing Aperture.

Are we going to see a new version of iLife this year?

Now that Aperture 3 has been released to bring the Places & Faces features from iPhoto, what is the likelihood of seeing iPhoto pull further ahead? What more could iPhoto add to distance it from the previous version?
