You're kidding, right? If you plug in your iPhone 3GS to your computer, iTunes launches automatically.
    • Under Devices, click on your iPhone.

    • Click on the Music tab.

    • You may choose your entire music library or a selected playlists.

No need to get snippy. Choose Selected playlists, artists, and genres.

Maybe he wants to do something intuitive like drag and drop songs onto his iPhone. Why go through clicking boxes and not just drag what you want into the iPhone?

If you plug in your iPhone 3GS to your computer, iTunes launches automatically.
    • Under Devices, click on your iPhone.

    • Click on the Summary tab.

    • Near the bottom of the window, under "Options", tick "Manually manage music and videos".

    • A dialog box will appear asking "Do you really want to..."

    • Tick OK

    • Now you can go to your music list and drag individual tracks or playlists over to your iPhone.
