Real to pay MIAA $4.5 million, stop RealDVD
They only sold 2,700 copies before getting slapped down.
Works out to be about $1667 a copy loss, guess they were hoping to get away with it longer, tie it up in court and make a profit in the long run.

A missed opportunity for the MPAA. Now they've forced DVD crackers firmly underground again. Out of sight, so out of any kind of control.

They could have waited and sued Real for all they're worth and rid us of that rubbish once and for all. It's the porn industry that keep using it too for copy protected streams - either it or WMV. Apple need to step up and let people do this with Quicktime on standard servers so Real doesn't even get considered.

Apple does stuff in software to sell hardware, you know that.
Of course which begs the question why is there Safari for Windows?
That is outside of Apple's norm, another shoe that hasn't dropped yet?
Been wondering about that move for ages now.
