Macs caused the dot-com bust
Two days ago I was listening to a radio talk show on the local PBS station. They were interviewing an author who wrote a book about wallstreet and the dot-com bust. Well they had a listener call in from Texas(probbally austin <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> ) that made the statement that the dot-com companies went bankrupt because they were using macs. He went on to briefly explain how macs were very unstable and hard to use. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

THE ONLY sector of high tech that (somewhat) weathered the market downturn was Biotech. And let me tell you, when I was still a Molecular Bio dude at a Biotech co, ALL WE USED WERE MACS. That's not just the bioinformatics dudes, but all the people from business on down. It wasn't just us either. All the companies I went to or interviewed at were mac shops. Downtime in a genomics lab is serious money loss, just like in the dot coms. And yet, we have reasonably strong stock prices in the biotech sector and announcements every day of new gene targets and drug candidates.
I wonder if the dot coms went bust because they didn't really offer any product or service of substance? Nah. That couldn't be it.
