RedBox for Ipad ???

What if Red Box movies made a app for Ipad that allowed you to their regular service of movie rentals for 99 cents ? Pay with Credit Card or Red Box Cards sold at stores and rent and watch movies for a cheap 99 cents right on your Ipad any time, any place. Think how amazing this would be. To my knowledge netflix requires a montly subscription? this would not so it's that much more attractive. Plus being that it is coming from an online database rather than a physical vending machine they could finally have a larger selection of old movies as well, all for 99 cents! Would Apple allow this? It would definetely hurt Itunes movie sales, and also Netflix. Didn't apple recently allow apps to sell items inside the app? We need a New Redbox app for the Ipad!!!

The question is, does RedBox want to invest in the infrastructure required to make it possible…?

The only reason they can rent movies at 99¢ is because that vending machine has WAY less overhead than a brick & mortar video store (ex. - BlockBuster).

To start a digital download video rental service would require a data center, fat pipes, some sort of time-out DRM & extra staff to run it all; which is more overhead…
