No. Adobe is unlikely to remove a large profit generator because Flash got snubbed

Even if they were, how would they go about licensing all the patents, making the UI acceptable, AND selling the product at a decent price?

Anyone that works with Photoshop on a daily basis, knows by heart where everything is. Any slight change will throw you off and cost you hours every day in slowdown times...

Apple is a consumer products company, not professional software Co...

They can't just walk in and replace a mature product that is basically mission-critical..it'll take at least 5 years of edging into the market....

    Yes!

As the level of 'hostilities' over Flash increase, Apple will want to keep all its options open. And Aperture is already well on the way to becoming a full-fledged (photo)graphic editor. It could be developed into a real Photoshop-killer without too much trouble! And it would fit neatly into Apple's lock-in strategy.

    Hmm..

Will they allow people to import their brushes, textures and gradients from PS?

Their config settings and color palletes?

    Their filter presets?

The bottom line is, that Apple won't get the Pro's to switch. An average user might forgo buying PS and just use Aperture if it's more intuitive for a first-time user, but then most people actually pirate PS anyway, and those who use PS on a daily basis just can't be bothered to move to anything else.

If Apple will disallow PS from their systems, most power users will just install Windows on a 2nd partition, and run PS there.... but then it'll make Steve look like a monopolistic, feuding nutcase, so it's unrealistic that they will ever force users to switch...

    Yes.

Apple did it with Aperture vs. Lightroom.

They have $40 billion + a huge pool of developers.
