Why no clock apps for the iPad?

Now that I have purchased the iPad, I would like to be able to use it as a bed side alarm clock. Are there any clock apps? I don't remember reading why this feature is missing.

    What are you complaining about? There is a free alarm clock app for the iPad. There are also numerous clock apps available for the iPhone that should also work.

    Actually, I'd like to see Apple's alarm clock on the iPad. Not only is it simple and functional, on the iPhone and iPod, a set alarm works even when the app isn't running. AFAIK, none of the third-party clocks can do this since they don't have access to background processes.

    I'm sure alternatives will pop up, if you can't find something in the app store, look online, take iPad Online Stopwatch - it's an excellent stopwatch and it can even run in the background.
