The Blue Meanie is indebted to <a href="http://www.forteantimes.com"; target="_blank">The Fortean Times</a> for the following news story. Everyone heard of the Groom Lake Air Force base in Nevada? It houses the legendary Area 51, supposedly the site of government experiments involving extraterrestrial technology, a downed flying saucer, etc etc - or as The Fortean Times puts it: "...where various ufologists of variable reliability allege that all manner of naughtiness goes on." Well, it seems that, just after the September 11 attacks, President Bush issued a new 'Presidential Determination' regarding the base. This:

[quote]"...exempted the US Air Force's operating location near Groom Lake, Nevada, from any federal, state, interstate, or local hazardous or solid waste laws that might require the disclosure of classified information concerning the operating location to unauthorised persons...Information concerning activities at the operating location near Groom Lake has been properly determined to be classified, and its disclosure would be harmful to national security. Continued protection of this information is, therefore, in the paramount interest of the United States."<hr></blockquote>

    According to most current UFO mythology (whatever that's worth) all the good stuff has been moved to another location because of all the exposure of Area 51.

    I used to be interested in all that UFO crap and still beieve there may be something visiting us. But to them I think were just an accident on the roadside... "Move along. Nothing to see here." is right... <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

    I think some of it is in my neighbor's garage. She's got so much shit in there she can't even park a Cavalier in a two-car unit!
