Dog owners found guilty

The lawyer for the accused used the same old argument- it was the victim's fault. I honestly think that the lawyer did more harm to her client than good. But then it's kind of hard to warm-and-fuzzy up a couple who were breeding killer dogs for the Aryan Brotherhood.

Why guilty of second-degree murder?
(I don't mean in a moral sense, I mean in a legal sense.)
The last conviction here was for a guy that creamed an elderly Holocaust survivor in a stolen SUV while he was running from the cops in Woodland Hills. He basically showed no trace of remorse, and this helped to get him convicted.
But gross.

What did they do, put a bomb in a bone and make the dog eat it? That sounds more justifiable of using the word "destroyed".
