iPad 3G: compass on Maps app?
Shortly after purchasing my iPad with 3G, I was playing around with the Maps app, and the display started to rotate in sync with my magnetic bearing.
Shortly afterward, a dialog flashed up asking me to move my iPad in a figure of 8 motion in order to overcome local interference.
Since then the magnetic compass doesn't seem to want to appear again. Is there perhaps something I'm not doing correctly?

Was a bit confused at first but it does work just like on the iPhone 3GS:

DON'T FORGET TO TRY OUT STREETVIEW. Awesome.
I don't notice that problem at all when I am actually in a car, so I assume it has to do with being 30 floors up in the air.
I notice that when I am in the office, that the blue dot floats around rather disturbingly, as if I were on a boat or a car (depending on whether it shows me out in the water or on land), moving around. Usually, moving toward my current location, but not always.

Are you near a window? Line-of-sight to the sky is best. GPS doesn't work that well indoors, though my iPad GPS works better in my house and indoors compared to my iPhone 3GS.

Yes, I am near a window. Beautiful picture windows. It has no problem picking up the signal. I just think that being 30 floors up makes it hard to pinpoint me, since it is trying to find me "on the ground" and there is probably no way for it to determine "straight down" versus a 30 story radius around the building.
