Can I use iPhone 3GS like an ipd Touch

My kid has been wanting an iPod touch. I will have a non used iPhone 3GS with no active service from ATT once I upgrade to v4



Can this phone be used like an iPod touch when the sim has been deactivated and will WIFI still work.



Let me know if it will work or if there is something I will have to do in order for it to work.

    You may have to jail break it as the iPhone will request a sim card in it before it will connect to iTunes
