StarWars Episode II - Excited or not?

I just went to the theater for the first time in months to see a movie (Ice Age, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time) and it just happened to have a totally awesome Episode II trailer at the beginning of it.

Now up until this point the trailers for Episode II have been lousy at worst and confusing or without information at best. This one seems to finally take the wraps off of a bit of the movie and I almost stood up and cheered at the end of it. Listening around the theater there was applause, and at least one guy said "Holy Crap!"

Let me say, this trailer has pushed me over the top. I will go see Episode II in the theater. After Episode I: TFM I was not so sure. The magnitude of the battles was immense, even in the few seconds glimpse I got. What about any of you? Seen the trailer in the theater, did it change your mind? Do you think it will be the #1 movie when it comes out, or do you think it will be the surprise flop that TFM was? (my opinion, TFM reeked)

I'm in the "see the first showing at midnight - opening day" camp. I'm pretty excited. I grew up totally addicted to Star Wars and I find it a lot of fun.

Sure the dialogue is cheesy, but its fun and a nice 2 hour escape.

However, as far as box office goes, I'm sure it will have a huge opening weekend, but I think Spiderman might take away a lot of its thunder. But thats ok, the 2nd thing I grew up on as a kid was comic books

I'll go see it, but it'll be a little while after opening weekend.

Now Austin Powers 3? Ooooohhhhh, I'm there, baby, yeah!

I pray to God that Austin Powers 3 doesn't suck as hard as 2 did. Talk about your pathetic rehashes... *shudder*

Count me in as an excited fan. TFM DID reek and I'm looking for this to be much better...better graphics...better story and if you check the latest Entertainment Mag...you'll see that Natalie Portmans skin tight suit in part of the movie just "happens" to be ripped exposing "Britney Spears" type of Midrif

    Dialogue does sound cheesy but that's a Starwars Tradition <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

I'm looking forward to this and The Two Towers!

First, The Phantom Menace did not suck. I saw it three times in the theatre. It was also not a flop....it was a huge box office smash, whether you liked it or not.

The critics panned it, and with good reason. There were problems, and it didn't stack up to the other three films. But, it did what it was supposed to do, which was set up the coming films.

Yes it did but it was poor in Character Development(Did you care when Qui Gon bit the dust) Darth Maul wasn't intimidating enough and the Jar Jar Binks Fiasco really hit a sore spot with many people. It was FAR from a raving success and MOST people are really hoping for a better movie. I think we'll have that but it's no guarantee. Lucas is no Wachowski

I hear the new title is going to be "Never say Member Again" - I like it! Its good on so many levels, especially if you know about the legal battle

As I stated, it was my opinion. However, by itself that movie was a stinker. I am hoping that the next movie makes the first one a bit better in how it set the stage. For now, I own it on Video and have never felt the need to watch it. My collection of Episode 4,5 and 6 however are getting a little worse for wear.

And on the box office side. The movie did well by drawing in the kids and those who think that Lucas/Starwars can do no wrong. It started really strong and fizzled near the end. If it had been a really good movie, and had a better plot/character development, it would have finished much stronger than it did. I have a feeling that the second movie is not being so hotly anticipated due to perception of the first movie. However, I think the second will blow the first away if what I have heard, seen, and read is correct.

So which movie are you more excited about. Episode II or TTT? It is really a toss up in my mind. Both trailers I have seen have really gotten me excited about either movie. If I had to choose one or the other I would be hard pressed.

TTT is a book that i always wished would be a movie. Reading it as a young child it was written so vividly and was the best of the trilogy in my opinion. The first book was good, but a bit slow. The second was just right, plenty of story and plenty of action. The last was very fast moving and was a close second.

However I have always had a great love for Star Wars and thought that there should have been more. Episode 1 was not the more I wanted, but this one appears to be what I have been looking for.

What to choose? Fortunately I should be able to see both. I don't think I could choose otherwise...

    Not excited. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

I'll wait until it is showing at the local $3 theater before I consider going to see it in a theater.

Really? Was it Episode I that turned you off or what? So far the trailers have been getting increasingly better every time they release another one.
